Easy To Make
You can be very creative as to what containers you use in making your candles. You can re-create tropical fish aquariums, dessert parfaits or crystallized rock art. You can also make gel candles using stemware and cookie cutters. All it takes to begin your gel candle project is one jar of gel wax, a metal saucepan, candle making thermometer, metal spoon, candle scent, oven mitts, glass containers, candlewicks, scissors and glass beads in assorted colors, sizes and shapes. Most of these supplies you already have in the home.
You first place your wick at the bottom of the glass container and pour the beads around it. Then melt your gel wax and add desired amount of scent drops. Add color to your candle for a more decorative look. Pour the wax into the glass containers over the beads only stopping a quarter of an inch from the top. Let your candle cool for several hours. Snip your wicks that are sticking out of your candle and you are finished. Gel candle wax is oil based, therefore, very flammable, so never leave your gel wax alone while it is melting.
Any gel wax that spills should be cooled completely before removing. It will return into its original gel form and you can roll it off the surface and put it back into the gel candle wax jar to be reused. It’s no wonder that crafters have fallen in love with these candles. They are easy to make, cost effective and unique. Gel candles are fun and a great project for teenagers. Their creativity in making themed candles for their friends is endless.
