Floating Candles are Another way to Illuminate

Are you tired of the same old decorations? Are you itching to create something new for your Halloween bash, but have no idea how? Do you love candles, but want a fresh way to make your party guests “ooh and ah”? What about trying floating candles as a centerpiece to your next festive table setting?

Add a Little Life to the Party

Floating candles will catch the attention of everyone. They are easy to use and are available in almost as many colors as their non-floating cousins. So long as your server is careful, floating candles can even be used in a punchbowl. Or you can use them in any vase or glass that is slightly wider than the candle itself.

Aside from the obvious fresh approach that floating candles can provide a host, another benefit to floating candles is the ease in cleanup. If they happen to drip into the water, then the wax will clump rather than stick and you can very easily toss it away with minimal cleanup time and effort.

Add a Little More

Another great use for these candles is to float a few in your backyard swimming pool to give your impromptu deck party an elegant flair. The same is true for those fountains that are so popular today, or even a bathtub, should that “party” be a quiet evening for two. Use care, however, if you plan to drop floating candles into a lake or larger body of water, because it would be difficult to retrieve the candle remains later.

Really, any body of water would work for this effect, and floating candles can be used to liven up any holiday festivity. This includes that Halloween bash. Consider dropping a few black floating candles into a punchbowl filled with red punch, and you have instant Halloween fare. Or keep the candles white, and make the punch orange for something a bit less ghoulish.

You could even float candles in individual wine or punch glasses, but I recommend blowing out the candle before taking a drink, or your guests may get more than what they bargained for with that first sip. I have even seen a runny red Jell-O adorned with black floating candles, and the effect was creep-a-licious!

If your goal is to liven things up by trying something new at your next party, give floating candles a go. They are incredibly versatile and easy to clean up later. All you need is water and a little ingenuity, and you can have your friends talking about your creative party ideas for months to come. Go ahead, try dropping a few floating candles into your next punch bowl and wait for the compliments to roll in.
