Be Prepared With Emergency Candles
It is always a very good idea to have emergency candles on hand for any type of emergency. Candles are a nice addition to anyone’s entertaining or home décor, but they are also efficient and extremely useful in an emergency situation. Whether you are camping in a tent or RV, driving down the road or at home, emergency candles will always come in handy for any number of emergency situations. Even though electricity rules our world, Mother Nature is getting more and more forceful as the years progress. Summer thunderstorms and winter snowstorms can still interrupt our power service and emergency candles are the instant, easy way to create heat and light when needed in these types of weather-induced situations. You also never know when your car is going to break down on a deserted, unlit road. Candles should be in everyone’s emergency kit whether you are at home or on the road.
The Effective Candle
The candle that is most efficient as an emergency candle is a new, longer burning, unscented candle made specifically as an emergency candle. These candles provide more heat and light then other types of candles. Do not use these emergency candles for entertaining or home décor, because you want to save them for any emergency that might arise. Taper candles are the best candles to use as emergency candles. The short, unscented tapers provide light and some heat. Make sure these taper candles have a thick circumference, as a thin candle will burn too quickly. Also, be sure you have candle holders that are firm and sturdy and can be carried by hand from place to place. Putting several of these emergency candles together will create a greater source of heat, as well as light.
A good emergency candle for the road is a pillar candle. These are longer burning candles that can generate light for a long period of time. But taper candles are still your best bet for other emergency candle situations. Everyone has had tapers in their home at one time or another. Tapers are used mainly for entertaining purposes and special occasions. Buy a second box of tapers the next time you buy your candles and keep them in a special spot just for emergencies. Always having a box of the shorter, fatter tapers is also a good idea. Put some into an emergency kit for the car, camping or wherever you think you might need some emergency light at some time. Being prepared with emergency candles is always preferable in any emergency situation.
