The Candle Taper: A Statement of Understated Elegance
Candles are available in different shapes and sizes, color and textures. A common terminology has been worked out to describe different styles of candles. The traditional style of candles are retained in the forms of candle tapers, which are till date the most commonly used version of candles.
Candle tapers with tall slender looks, carry with them an unmistakable classic charm. The typical candle tapers are 6 to 18 inches long and bear a slim get up. An additional reserve of wax is added around the base of the tapers so that the melted wax is deposited in that area only.
Tapers are justly called the dinner candles as any romantic dinner is incomplete if the glow of candle tapers does not illuminate the faces of the lovers. The tapers are also the indispensable part of the Jewish ceremony of Hanukkah where it is the traditional custom to place tapers in the menorah.
If you plan to make your evening parties stylish by burning the tapers, you have to invest in proper candle holders. Because of the shape of the candle tapers, it is important to place them in the holders with utmost caution. If they are not held securely in an upright position within the candle holder, they may break from the middle. Then, unless they sit perfectly straight in the holder, the amount of dripping also increases.
Sometimes dripping from the tapers create a great mess. Blow of wind makes the flames flicker. And larger the flame, the higher the rate of dripping resulting in a very short burn time, and a pool of melted wax. The one and only solution to this trouble is to place your tapers away from the draft.
The paraffin based candle tapers may create smoke at the time of burning thereby killing the spirit of a romantic evening. A properly trimmed wick reduces the smoke. Attempt at trimming only a little at a time to maintain a length of 1/4th inches. To keep the wick in proper state, light it between each trimming.
The experts suggest that before the beginning of the party, taking up a test burning helps a lot. Checking the length of the wick, you can ensure a smoke free evening. Avoid making hurry at the time of placing them so that these fragile candles do not get damaged. Complete with a set of ornate holders, get ready to enjoy an unforgettable evening.
